Ouija Board Warned of Death

The young couple sat across from each other as their hands joined on the planchette of a Ouija board. Tim Hess began using the board after his girlfriend moved into his Pennsylvania apartment, not realizing what it would invite.

“We had been doing this almost every evening for about a month and had been talking to an entity that claimed to be a man who died at about the same age I was,” he said. “He claimed to have died in an accident ... apparently he was working on this vehicle and it fell on him, crushing him.”

Although nothing bad had happened to Hess and his girlfriend while using the Ouija board, they were still cautious.

“We always used it together because we heard you should never use one alone,” he said.

But one night, when Hess sat in a bar up the hill from his apartment, his girlfriend, who wasn’t yet 21, broke the rule.

“As I was walking home one evening I found a bottle jack lying along side the road and decided to take it home because I work on cars a lot,” he said. “When I walked in the door with the jack in my hand my girlfriend’s face turned white as a ghost and she was screaming at me telling me I had to get rid of the jack.”

After she calmed down, she told him why.

“She had been using the Ouija board while I was out,” Hess said. “She told me she had been trying to talk to our friend but he wouldn’t say anything except ‘Tim’ and ‘No Jack’ over and over for about 15 minutes.”

Finally, after numerous requests, the board spelled out that Hess would find a jack walking home from a bar June 14. That night was June 14. But it’s what the entity then claimed that threw the girl into hysterics.

“(The entity said) I would use the jack and a car would fall on me killing me,” he said. “I told her not to worry because nothing was going to happen to me.”

She pleaded with him to get rid of the jack, but he refused; it was in good condition.

“I took the jack down to the basement and tried to forget what happened,” he said. “But every time I saw that jack I got a very uneasy feeling in my stomach.”

Exactly a month later, Hess’ brother-in-law asked if he’d help replace the clutch in his car – and he didn’t own a jack.

“I proceeded to tell him the story of how I got the jack and the warning my girlfriend received,” Hess said. “I told him that if he waited a few days I would help him but there was no way I was going to crawl under a car on the 14th.”

The men waited two days and, using a jack Hess’ brother-in-law bought, repaired the clutch.

“We fixed his car without incident,” Hess said. “I don’t know if this was because we waited or the fact that my brother-in-law purchased a jack for us to use.”

Hess has not touched a Ouija board since.

“This incident made me realize that there are truly other entities out there. Some may be good and some may be bad. I just got lucky enough to not get mixed up with a bad one. Something has always bothered me about what happened though. Do you think I would have even found the jack if we weren’t talking to our ‘friend?’”

  1. Your stories give me chills and I love reading them. I never liked the Quija board and didn't mess with it.

  2. I've been fascinated by the ouija for a long time - yet despite many attempts to get it to work it really never did.

I'm pretty sure that unconscious neuro-motor activity is what makes the planchette move (as demonstrated perfectly by Derren Brown and many others) yet it's the strange co-incidences (e.g. 'no jack') that beg the question that perhaps something else is going on.

That's nothing compared to some of the Ouija board experiences I've had. Can you say " Make you wanna shit your pants?" Those are some of mine, they all start out like that. If you are one of the few that really "gets it", you know what I mean....

  4. On a Tuesday, afternoon in late June, I entered the back of the house, passed by enormous four foot wide, four foot tall flower pots, each weighing as much as a man, containing ten foot tall Canna plants, looking tropical in nature and in full bloom.

I opened the back door and entered the vestibule into the kitchen; I could not take another step. Glancing backwards, over my shoulder, I saw that both enormous pots had been turned over. The wide elephant- ear-like leaves and tall orange- red flower -tops now bloomed sideways, sprawled to the ground, in a fraction of a second. I became suddenly aware of a very untoward realization .I would likely need entity removal and aura cleaning and protection, as in addition to this poltergeist nonsense, I was besieged with elements of telepathic attack: nightly evil nightmares,a sense of pervading anxiety and a confluence of accidents and surgeries .And all these experiences AFTER my sightings of UFOs and recalling some abductions.

Presence of mind is our greatest weapon, the ridicule factor, is their best defense.. Who, in one's 'right mind' can one even discuss these things with? Paper, is indeed, much more patient, than people. Why did things get worse? In deep despair and confusion ,(the plants overturned ,overwhelmed me with poltergeist shock that was so sudden and so profound),I stopped and prayed aloud for a spiritual sign.
“God, if there is a spirit world and it is real, and I can ask for protection, send me a sign: God, send me a white bird, up close and personal, in my face, on my window, as a sign”

I put my whole heart and soul and angst into this prayer and minutes later, busy else where, I forgot it, as it promptly receded into the recesses of my mind.

The next day, on route to work, following the same path I always drive, I made a right turn, and high over the street of cars, I saw a cloud of some one hundred gulls, hovering, wheeling, circling overhead, as if attracted by garbage or a dumpster, although none was in evidence. As I glanced up at the raucous flock, one white gull swerved to within an inch of my windshield, glossed passed and made eye contact with me. It lasted maybe two seconds.

Preoccupied with driving and having totally forgotten my fervent spiritual request from the night before, I drove on, momentarily startled, but dully unaware of it’s significance.

After a strenuous day at work I returned home, lit a prayer candle and began to voice again my special request for a sign when I remembered the morning gull. I HAD asked for a white bird on my window, up close and personal. Had I been given that sign the very next morning? I decided to be skeptical but not cynical. What would be a critical test?I decided that If I saw any gulls in the area anywhere while in transit on the way to work for the next two weeks, I would know that it was a coincidence or a quirk of fate not a sign that I asked for. Repeatedly,In my minds-eye,I was haunted with an odd afterimage,a close up of the birds black beadlike eye.Why was the black eye of that bird, which whizzed passed so fast, so fixed in my mind?

For two weeks, each day, I scanned the horizon and landscape for a sign of gulls hovering, as I believed a flock so large would certainly reappear somewhere. I never saw one bird. I decided that I had been given a wonderful sign and it has given me the courage and the confidence to feel protected in this fight against the unseen harassing entities.

Playing with the board is like opening the door to a dark alley and asking if anyone wants to come in and play. Anyone? Anyone at all?? Sheesh!
If you get yourself good and spooked and want to be rid of the thing, try
    http://www.toxicshaman.com/
or find some local witch to shut it down properly.

carnivore_bunny is totally right. Never dispose of one by yourself without the proper "burial."

Or better yet--just don't play with one at all! I played with one once and only once, and never again!

  7. Ouija boards are a tool. Nothing more. Properly prepared, they are a useful way to communicate. The problem comes in, when most people consider the board a game, and do not prepare for it's use. THEN, it's like opening a door that one cannot shut. And nasty things may indeed come through.

Here are a VERY useful set of rules and preparations for using the board.

    1. Always treat the board w/ respect. It is very important. Always be silent when a spirit is speaking and never get on the board looking for a fight. Whether or not the spirit is powerful, you might just get that fight. And always assume you have no idea what you're dealing with.

    2. Be careful on stormy days and days w/ solar and lunar eclipses. The barrier between this world and the next is thin on these days.

    3. Candles are not necessary but do seem to help with communication. Lighter colored candles are used to attract good spirits, black or red candles for malevolent ones. In personal experience, darker colors have worked well for me-but be careful w/ your color of choice. (place them on either side of the board.)

    4. NEVER let the spirits use the planchette to move down through the #'s or through the alphabet because they can be released from the board this way.

    5. Never tell them they can join you or visit you. Never.

    6. Always properly close the board when you are done. (to open, circle the sun 3-5 times depending on who you are trying to contact, go over the Ouija logo, and "get it started" by running it over the alphabet a bit. Circle the sun 3 times for a random spirit, 4 times for a specific spirit, 5 times for an evil spirit.) To close the board, circle the moon the # of times you circled the sun and go over the "Goodbye" to break the connection.

    7. Never leave the planchette on the board by itself when you aren't playing.

    8. Spirits will lie. Even so, don't ask about God, the devil or death.

    9. It is not a good idea to ask the spirits to carry out tasks for you. There was a recorded case of two girls who asked the Ouija board to carry out nasty little tasks for them-it led to the death of one of the friends they were mad at. In other words, be careful what you wish for.

    10. Taking part in Ouija in a haunted place is very dangerous and WILL call fourth malevolent forces. Don't do it.

    11. Do not drink or do drugs prior to playing. It's making your body weak and susceptible to possession.

    12. Loud noises should be diminished for any worthwhile results.

    13. And finally, NEVER BURN THE BOARD!!!!!! A lot of people think this is the proper way to dispose of it-its the most dangerous thing anyone can do when dealing with a Ouija board. DON'T DO IT. It will lead to severe trouble. Do dispose of the board, break it into seven pieces, sprinkle it with holy water and bury it.
I don't discourage anyone from using the board, but i do encourage cautiousness. Be careful and have fun!
PS: A tip on making your own board: some say that you should make the letters in a circle to keep the spirit trapped on the board-but these people also say that you shouldn't use any board but your own. It's your choice. Good luck.
One more thing-(sorry)-to protect against evil spirits: Turn the board upside-down, as well as the planchette. Place the upside-down planchette on the board, have all participants touch it, and say in a clear, strong voice "No evil spirits" 3 times. Then commence in playing. If at any time you suspect the spirit you're speaking to is evil (particularly if as soon as you start they go to the moon), flip the planchette over immediately and use it that way.

This all came from the Online Museum of Talking boards.

Okay, honestly...the Ouija Board does not work fo' me, but I'm pretty sure I was impatient 'n restless fo' 'bout fifteenth minutes. 'Nyways, interesting story...Had 'n eerie result, but I had a kick out of it. It's way better being scared of the unknown, then the daily routines of Life...Living people are jus' as foul-hearted as the Dead.
